To all the mothers in the world
Dearest Mother
A very happy mother's day. Although I don't think I should say that - one day for celebrating the presence of your blessings is not enough. To me, you are an epitome of sacrifice, selflessness, faith, benevolence. You starved yourself to feed me. You got me those expensive shoes although your own feet felt insulted in those tattered boots. You tried to learn about the new trends just to keep in touch with me. You complain all the time, but still make my bed, wash my dishes, do my laundry everyday. You gifted yourself with those horrible dark circles under your eyes because you never missed getting up early in the morning to make me good lunch for school. You never complained when I spent all the time with all sorts of people but you. You never complained when I left you alone. You never leave my hand when we're crossing roads. You never complain when we don't thank you for everything you do for us.
You are the pivot of my wheel of life. If you weren't there, I wouldn't be there too. You are my creator. You are my manager. You are the almighty in the human form. My life revolves around you. From the delightful first 'mommy' on my lips, to the not so delightful 'I'm grown up.', you've always been there for me. You are the one who holds me when I tumble. When I fall down, 'mommy' is the first word that comes out of my mouth. You're the first one whom I call when I see what my little siblings have done to my room. You're the one I pour out all my anger on. You're the one I hug when I'm happy. You're the one who clasps my hand when it's dark. The world may think I'm brave, but you know that I'll always be the same little kid who gets glued to you in a dark room. You're the one in whose lap I cry when life seems unfair. You are my support. You are the light in my dark life. You are the rain to my thirsty life. I cannot imagine this world without you mom. I just cannot.
You hit me when I refused to follow your orders defiantly. You hit me when I stole that penny from the boy next door. You grounded me when I copied my friend's homework. You made me cry. But those tears made me a better person.
You slapped me when I came home late. You beat me when I had done nothing that wrong. But it was because you were worried. Because you were agitated. Because you are a human. And humans make mistakes. So even you can do that sometimes. You are the greatest creation of perfection in this universe. Your imperfections do us good too.
But I do not understand your silence at times. I don't understand why you stand there smiling in the silence when I win. I don't understand when you never come up to take the credit the way you take the blame when I'm wrong. Is this your selflessness? Or is it your divine nature?
Your messy hair and loose clothes, your puffy, bespectacled eyes, your slightly lined face symbolise the greatest beauty in this world. Sometimes when I see you sleeping peaceful, it brings tears in my eyes. Are they really tears of just love? When you are telling me how tiresome, how grueling a day it was for you, it sometimes brings a tiny smile on my face. Is it the pleasure to see you speak? Or is it my thankfulness for you being there? When you rest your head in my small lap, and when I stroke your hair, my face begins to glow? Why is it so mother? The answers lie undiscovered.
You are nature. You are beauty. You are fulfillment. You are peace. You are my glory. You are bliss. You are the greatest blessing. You are a sweet kiss on my cheek from the Almighty. To me you are the greatest entity itself.
My sorrow disappears when you pat my back. I feel emancipated when you congratulate me on my victory. You are life to me mother. You are the greatest, yet silent legend to me.
And the words 'Thank you' are not what you deserve. They cannot express the vast ocean of love I have for you. Nor can this letter. All I want to say is - you are the greatest I will ever have and every moment I spend with you is life in its most divine form. Thank you for giving me all this.
With love
Your Own Creation

@JupitersDays - @DarkMocca - ^_^
I am touched...
perhaps we shud take time from our schedule to sit with her for atleast 5 mins..@Ankit - yes we must
I wish my mom could appreciate if I wrote something like this...
She's really old fashioned and plus the whole cultural barrier. If I gave her a letter like this she'd just brush it off. The world is really simple for her. :/ But this is beautiful!
@ShatterFreak - awww thanks :) and no matter how old fashioned ur mom is, she's still a mom - the best!
This is really sweet. As much as I journal, I'm terrible at letters like this.
@Aaron - haha thanks
Where did you find this writing? Who wrote this? It's nice, quaint and sweet. Thanks for including it. I will print it and give it to my wife. She is a mother of five so far. Kudos to her. She gets a lot of compliments from everybody here in South Korea, as a miserably low birth rate is to many our "collective scourge," a stain expected to end our civilization. Everyone is sensitive to that here.
@Padooker - thank you very much for the compliment. And you are talking to the author right now. On this blog, everything is written by me, and if something is not mine, I mention it. Yes, you may go ahead and print it for your wife. I hope she likes it. Do tell me about her reaction soon.
